The Herb Indian Grandmothers Have Trusted for Centuries — Now in Your Tea

Tulsi, or Holy Basil, is one of those ingredients that has been at the centre of Indian wellness traditions for so long that it almost needs no introduction. Most Indian homes have a Tulsi plant in the courtyard. Mothers and grandmothers have been making their children drink Tulsi-infused water for generations during cold season. This is not a new health trend. This is a very old, very well-proven tradition.

What we have done is take two of the best Tulsi varieties, Rama Tulsi and Shyama Tulsi, and blend them with certified organic green tea from Assam to create something that is both deeply traditional and practically useful for a modern daily routine. You get the adaptogenic benefits of Tulsi plus the antioxidant power of green tea in one cup.

Why Two Varieties of Tulsi? Not Just One?

Rama Tulsi and Shyama Tulsi are different plants with slightly different flavour profiles and active compound compositions. Rama Tulsi has a milder, slightly sweet flavour and is known for its respiratory and stress-relieving properties. Shyama Tulsi is more pungent and spicy and is particularly valued for its strong antimicrobial and immunity-boosting action.

Using both together means you get a more complete spectrum of Tulsi's benefits in every cup rather than what a single variety can offer. The green tea adds its own layer of polyphenols and a gentle, steady energy that pairs beautifully with the earthy warmth of Tulsi.

    How to Brew It Right

    • Water: Heat to about 85 to 90 degrees. Boiling water will make the green tea bitter and reduce some of Tulsi's more delicate compounds.

    • Leaves: 1 to 2 grams per cup. One heaped teaspoon is roughly right.

    • Steeping: 3 to 5 minutes. The Tulsi flavour intensifies the longer you steep.

Optional: A small spoon of honey brings out the natural sweetness of Rama Tulsi beautifully.

    Benefits

    Strong Immunity Support

Tulsi is one of the most well-documented natural immunomodulators in Ayurvedic medicine. It strengthens the body's immune response, helps fight bacterial and viral infections and is particularly effective during seasonal changes when colds and flu are common. The two-Tulsi blend in this tea gives you a more comprehensive immune boost than a single variety would.

    Adaptogenic Stress Relief

Tulsi is classified as an adaptogen, which means it helps the body manage and adapt to stress more effectively. Regular consumption has been shown to reduce cortisol levels, improve mental clarity and create a sense of calm focus. If you are someone who deals with daily work stress, a cup of Tulsi green tea in the afternoon genuinely helps.

    Respiratory Health

Rama Tulsi in particular has strong bronchodilatory and expectorant properties. It helps clear the airways, soothes throat irritation and supports breathing during seasonal allergies, pollution exposure or early signs of respiratory infection. It is not a medicine but it is a very effective natural support for your respiratory system.

    Powerful Antioxidants

The combination of Tulsi and green tea creates one of the most antioxidant-rich cups you can have. These antioxidants fight oxidative stress at the cellular level, which is linked to premature ageing, chronic inflammation and the development of various long-term health conditions. Daily consumption is a simple investment in long-term health.

    Blood Sugar Balance

Both Tulsi and certain compounds in green tea have been studied for their ability to support healthy blood sugar regulation. Tulsi in particular has traditionally been used to manage blood sugar and reduce spikes after meals. This makes the tea a good choice as a post-meal drink for people conscious of their blood glucose levels.

    Digestive Comfort

The warm, aromatic compounds in Tulsi help stimulate digestive enzymes, reduce gas and bloating and support healthy gut function. Drinking a cup after meals has been a traditional practice for good reason — it genuinely helps the stomach settle and process food more comfortably.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tulsi green tea help with stress and anxiety?

Yes, Tulsi is one of the most well-researched natural adaptogens available. Regular consumption has been shown to reduce cortisol, the body's main stress hormone, and promote a sense of calm focus. The green tea in this blend also contains L-theanine which has its own calming effect. Together they create a genuinely stress-reducing cup.

Can I drink Tulsi green tea every day?

Yes, for most healthy adults drinking 2 to 3 cups a day is perfectly fine and beneficial. Tulsi is an adaptogen that works best with consistent daily use and the benefits build up over time. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or on specific medication, check with your doctor first about daily herbal tea consumption.

Why does this tea use two varieties of Tulsi?

Rama Tulsi and Shyama Tulsi each have slightly different active compounds and benefits. Rama Tulsi is milder and especially good for stress relief and respiratory support. Shyama Tulsi is more intense and known for stronger antimicrobial and immunity action. Using both together gives you a more complete set of Tulsi's benefits in every cup compared to a single variety blend.

What is Tulsi Green Tea good for?

Tulsi Green Tea combines the adaptogenic and immunity-boosting properties of Holy Basil with the antioxidant benefits of organic green tea. It is particularly good for daily immunity support, stress relief, respiratory health, better digestion and providing a steady energy boost without the caffeine crash of coffee. It is one of the most versatile herbal teas you can drink daily.

Is this tea suitable for people with diabetes?

Tulsi has been studied for blood sugar regulation properties and green tea has a low glycemic index. Many people with diabetes or pre-diabetes include Tulsi tea as part of a healthy routine. However, if you are on diabetes medication, please check with your doctor as Tulsi may interact with blood sugar management medication.
